COVID-19 UPDATE – May 20, 2020

To our valued clients, family, and friends:

Mental Health crises are on the rise. Suicidal ideation, self-harm, and suicides are also on the rise. Living through a pandemic is not something most of us have had to deal with before. The increase in workload or change in roles, or complete job loss for some, have added tremendous stress, worry, and anxiety to all of us – including our children. Not to mention those who have been isolated and not able to receive and/or give love and support the way we used to in the past. With all the added stressors, we want to provide you with one piece of info…There is HOPE. There is possibility for joy, for healthy coping, and life fulfillment, even through this pandemic. And we are here to help you every step of the way.

Serenity Counseling Services has remained open during the pandemic, taking all safety precautions and health recommendations necessary to continue to conduct business as safe as possible. This letter is to inform you of our latest updates pertaining to our practice.

Our lobby will remain closed to those who are not in a counseling session. However, we’d love to spoil you with our coffee bar while you wait. So, come on in, make your coffee, and then please wait for your loved one in your vehicle. Our staff properly disinfects all highly touched surfaces in between each and every client, including our coffee station, doorknobs, etc.

Our telehealth services have really taken off! You all seem to be loving it and we do too. We will continue to offer these services as we are doing now. In addition, we have created additional telehealth services including Play Therapy via Telehealth. This is cool stuff, guys!! Please see our website for more information, www.serenitycs.org.

Our play therapy room continues to have a limited occupancy per week so we can properly disinfect all toys. We will no longer be waiving the late cancellation/no show fee so that we can ensure that every open hour is known and available to those who may desire a short notice appointment. Masks will be worn at each client’s discretion, and if you’d like for us to wear ours during your face to face session, we are happy to do so. We are also continuing to practice social distancing of 6 feet or more for clients who come into our office and will continue to offer air hugs instead of our usual hugs, handshakes, and high fives. (This is so disappointing and hard for us because we are big huggers in our office – but we are surviving!)

Please continue to take care of yourselves, and if we can answer any questions you may have or help you or your family in any way, please call us at 361-350-8088 or email us at info@serenitycs.org.

With love and gratitude for all of you,

The Serenity Counseling Team

COVID-19 UPDATE – March 30, 2020

While each of us continue to be surrounded by uncertainty, we want you to know that the safety and well-being of you, your family, and the Serenity Counseling team continue to be our top priority. At this time, mental health providers are deemed essential businesses in Bee County and we can remain open to serve you during the COVID-19 pandemic, despite being under a “Stay at Home” order. We are grateful our practice can remain open and that we can continue to walk alongside you in some of life’s most difficult times.

While we remain open, we have made some adjustments here at our office. Unless approved by SCS staff, all adult counseling sessions will be held via teleconference. We continue to offer limited play therapy sessions, and when appropriate, those sessions will be held outside with the 6-foot distance policy strictly enforced. Anyone needing face to face sessions will participate in a screening process/questionnaire so that we can be better equipped to make decisions related to face to face counseling and play therapy. Our counselors are creative and intuitive, and we feel confident we can continue to provide effective treatment while also keeping best sanitization and health practices at the forefront of what we do in order to attempt to eliminate the possibility of community spread.

In addition, our waiting room will be closed until further notice. If you have a loved one in counseling, we kindly ask that you wait for them in your car. At the same time, when you arrive for your session, you will call to let our team know you are there. Your counselor will come outside to get you when it is time for your session. Rest assured you can still expect the same quality service you have become accustomed to here at our office.

Continue to take care of yourselves, and if we can answer any questions you may have please call us at 361-350-8088 and by email at info@serenitycs.org.

With love and gratitude for all of you,

The Serenity Counseling Team

COVID-19-March 16, 2020

Dear Family, Friends, and Valued Clients of Serenity Counseling & Life Coaching Services,

We understand this time can be confusing and scary for some. We want to reiterate to our community of followers that your health, well-being, and confidentiality is of utmost priority to us. Out of an abundance of caution and in an effort to help slow the spread of the Coronavirus, we will be offering alternative ways to conduct therapy sessions over the next few weeks.

Every client will have the choice to have their sessions held via phone or face time/skype. For those who choose to continue to come into our office, please understand that we are diligently taking measures for public health, including implementing a 6-foot distance policy. This means we may be sitting in different locations than normal and will not hug, high five, or handshake as usual.

Every SCS team member will be closely monitoring their own health and are encouraged to stay home if feeling ill with any respiratory symptoms or fever. Our play therapy sessions will be limited due to the extra measures that will be taken to sanitize the therapeutic toys and miniatures. We will conduct outdoor sessions and home visits per the comfort level of the parent and therapist. Our offices will be sanitized in between sessions. In addition, we have ramped up our cleaning and disinfectant protocol of frequently touched surfaces.

Our group sessions will be maxed out at 7 people, allowing for extra space to spread out in the group/conference room (our normal maximum is about 15 people). Lastly, we want you to have peace of mind and flexibility to take care of you and your family’s needs. We will be lenient with our no show/late cancellation policy over the next three weeks while individuals get grounded into what will likely be a new normal for now.

All of these changes will take place immediately and will be in effect for three weeks. At that time, we will communicate any changes in our best practices. As always, our staff is prepared, diligent, prayerful, and ready to walk alongside you during life’s most difficult times. Our goal is to remain connected while practicing physical distancing. We are all in this together, and together we can overcome COVID-19!

God bless you all,

Crystal Cox, M.Ed., LPC, RPT
